A cyberpunk narrative adventure game currently in development (Mac, PC, Linux).
The Colorful Darkness project's ancestor originated during a game jam. Two developers, Marie and David, teamed up to prototype a point-and-click, mystery-solving and hacking adventure game taking place in a dystopian futuristic world.
They were under many influences (movies, games, and of course beer) but you could recap the initial intention as "you play Lisbeth Salander in Blade Runner's world".After that
Later on, some (real) artists joined the project, and thanks to them Colorful Darkness is now a mature game project carried out by a team of four people.
The original vision is the same: create a game in a futuristic universe where non-violent computer hacking would be a central part of solving stories, that would combine the best gameplay elements of point-and-click narrative RPGs and old-school adventure platformers, but with a modern artistic direction.
A playable demo of the game will be finished in 2017, after which the development shall continue to deliver a first full chapter of the game hopefuly near the end of 2018.Team members
Sandrine leads the artistic direction of the game. She draws most of the environments, some of the characters, and makes sure everything looks perfectly dystopic.
Sarah is our script master: scenario events, story logic, dialogs, interactivity, animations, particles... She also takes care of our website.
Daniele brings his inspired vision to how future hipster-hackers, AI-powered robots or priest-cops should look like. He draws most of our characters and makes the animations.
David (one of the original developers) leads the project and is in charge of making the game engine and writing the story.Inspiration
